Fashion News – New Fashion Mag Causes Controversy

Saturday, August 27th, 2011

Dasha Zhukova’s up and coming new fashion / art magazine project has not even hit the newsstands yet and it has already caused controversy over the first image for its cover. When she was planning the launch of her new magazine the former POP editor contacted several well-known artists with the idea that they each design a tattoo and this would then be tattooed onto a person, or ‘living canvas’ to celebrate the launch.

A number of famous artists accepted the project – artists such as Paul Mccarthy, John Baldessari, Dinos Chapman and Jeff Koons, but the tattoo that has caused the most problems has been the one designed by Damien Hirst. That’s because Hirst’s idea was to persuade a young London illustrator, Shauna Taylor to have her vagina tattooed with a Damien Hirst butterfly. The resulting piece of art has been put on the front cover in all its full glory underneath a carefully placed sticker (recalling Warhol’s Velvet Underground album cover). Naturally this has not gone down well with everybody and the leading British newsagents, WH Smiths have banned the magazine from all their stores.

According to Taylor the green and black butterfly tattoo took two separate sessions to finish and was not as much fun as she had expected:

“I was hoping it might feel kind of nice, but it was probably the worst pain I have felt. I thought I was going to pass out”

Nevertheless she is glad she went ahead with the artwork, adding that

“I love it. I would have been stupid not to be part of this project. I have a piece of art on my vagina. Not one single person can ever say they gave birth through a Damien Hirst piece of art. I can [if I ever give birth].”

The magazine will be launched with three different covers to buy. In addition to Hirst’s cover there is one by Dinos Chapman and Nick Knight which features a puppet doll of model Lily Donaldson and one by Richard Prince featuring a drawing of his smiling face tattoo.

Summer Styles

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

We’ve been busy scouring catwalks in order for you to find the best direction for your hair in when it comes to Spring/Summer trends of 2011.

So far we’ve established that when it comes to long hair, it should be loose, free, natural and parted in the centre; flawless symmetry is back again. The thing about the natural look is that it basically means you can do what you like. Hair can be worn straight, wavy or curly. Loose beachy curls are best teamed with sun-kissed highlights. All these looks are super feminine and perfect for summertime.

ghd stylers are great when it comes to achieving natural looks because their rounded barrel means they glide through hair effortlessly no matter how you are styling it, so you are never left with any unnatural looking kinks.

You can glam up any of these looks simply by making your curls a bit tighter or fuller or simply parting your hair to the side.

Ponytails this year should be two things – low and braided. For on trend daily up dos just tie your hair at the back of your neck. If you don’t want a ponytail then keep it low, but tie hair into a messy bun instead. This works for shorter hair lengths as well.

For shorter hair lengths 2011 is all about the tussled look. Messy wavy hair will be a big hit particular in the hotter months, just a few flicks of a ghd styler will help you achieve easy waves in your hair. Finish with a sea salt spray for extra beachiness. The less time you spend on your hair, the more natural it will look, it’s quick and easy and will look effortlessly chic.

New York City

New York is known as the fashion capital of the world. For five years, it reigned as the topmost city in the world of fashion. But currently New York has been beaten by Milan. When to Wear Something Casual and When to Dress to Impress at Casinos

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

If you visit a casino rather than playing Caesars online, you will see that all the big players are really dressed to kill. They wear all the fancy clothes, and some people flaunt really flashy colors. If you are a first time casino visitor, you can see many people dressed in their country’s respective dress codes, while some looking like James Bond. The question is, when do you dress to impress, and when do you go casual?

Many casinos have dress codes, but with the rising competition, the dress code rule has suffered a setback. These days many casinos allow people to enter casinos dressed in their casuals.

What should you wear while going to a good casino?

You should get some information about the casino that you are planning to visit. If it has a dress code rule, you need to dress up in your formals. In most casinos with dress code rules, you will find men dressed in suits, and women wrapped in fur. But if your casino does not have a dress code, you might slip into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, and visit the casino.

But even in no dress code casinos, you will find many people who are dressed to kill. Mostly, these people are the big shot gamblers, betting serious money. If you are going to bet good money at a casino, it is advisable to go wearing a suit instead of casual wear. It will give others an impression that you are not an everyday gambler, and make you stand apart from the crowd.

The kind of clothes that you wear to these casinos largely depends upon your personal choice and preference, but the fanciness of your clothes is directly proportional to the money you are going to gamble- for big money, get dressed suitably.
